‘Images That Last’ Photographic Courses for Spring/Summer 2010

Elisabeth Sephton BA(Hons)

Elisabeth has been a practising photographic and graphic artist for 30 years, working with SLR cameras and colour/black & white films in both print production and publication. She has taught photography at GCSE, BTEC and Adult Education levels. Now adapted to digital imagery, Elisabeth runs a studio-gallery in Deal on the Kent coast.

Digital Photography in Practice

6 week introductory course on Thursday evenings

A 6 week introductory course designed to improve skill and confidence in taking pictures using digital cameras. The course will cover all the important functions and modes of the camera, the art of composition and the role
of computers and printers. Much opportunity will be given to taking a wide variety of images including photographing people, landscapes and details (close-ups) of objects.

Six two and a half hour sessions will take place at ‘The Studio-Gallery’, 4 St George’s Passage, in the heart of Deal and 1 or 2 sessions in different outdoor locations during weekends/early mornings (Total of 18 hours). Some sessions may be separated into smaller groups to accomodate those with either SLR or compact cameras. Places limited to 6. Tea/coffee etc will be provided.

Thursday evening course July/August 2010

Time 7.15 to 9.45pm

Dates: 8th July, 15th July, 22nd July, 5th August, 12th August, 19th August

What will you need?

A digital camera with manual (M) as well as automatic controls, your
camera handbook, good footwear. A tripod (for outdoor sessions) and
lap-top computer would be useful but not essential.

Cost

Cost of the course is £180 (deposit of £40).

Saturday Introductory Workshops

These courses cover similar material to the evening course but in not so much detail. They are run over 2 consecutive Saturdays starting at 9.30am and finishing at 5.30pm. They will include an outdoor location session in the afternoon inbetween 5 hours of theory. Places limited to 6. Tea/coffee etc will be provided.

Course 1 Dates: 5th June, 12th June Course 2 Dates: 31st July, 7th August
