Images That Last Photographic Courses - New and revised courses

Digital Camera Workshop
Come along with your digital camera (and manual) and get help with understanding how it works and what are the features you will most need. Have a go at trying out different types of cameras. Tea/coffee etc will be provided.
Day and time: Sat 0ctober 3rd from 9am - 12 noon.
Venue: ‘The Studio-Gallery’ 4 St George’s Passage, Deal CT14 6TA
Cost: £35 with deposit of £10.

Term courses
An 8 session introductory course designed to improve skill and confidence in taking pictures
using digital cameras. The course will cover all the important functions and modes of the camera, the art of composition and the role of computers and printers. Much opportunity will be given to taking a wide variety of images including photographing people, landscapes and details (close-ups) of objects.
Six sessions will take place at ‘The Studio-Gallery’, 4 St George’s Passage, in the heart of Deal and at least two sessions in different outdoor locations during weekends/early mornings. Some sessions will be separated into smaller groups to accomodate those with either SLR or compact cameras. Places limited to 8. Tea/coffee etc will be provided.

Thursday evening course
Autumn term 2009 dates: October 8th, 15th, 22nd (half term break), November 5th, 12th, 19th.
Spring term 2010 dates: Jan 28th, Feb 4th, 11th (half term break), Feb 25th, March 4th, 11th. Times: 7.15 to 9.30pm

Wednesday morning course
Autumn term 2009 dates: October 7th, 14th, 21st (half term break), November 4th,11th, 18th.
Spring term 2010 dates: Jan 27th, Feb 3rd, 10th (half term break), Feb 24th, March 3rd, 10th. Times: 9.45am to 12noon

What will you need?
A digital camera with manual (M) as well as automatic controls, your camera handbook, good footwear. A tripod (for outdoor sessions) and lap-top computer would be useful but not essential.

Cost

SLR Workshops
These sessions are designed for those with a digital or film SLR (single lens reflex) camera who are keen to develop their expertise. Emphasis will be on developing the ‘art of seeing’ and establishing areas of individual interest. We will practice the creative use of shutter speeds, aperture settings, exposures, filters etc. Opportunities will be given to try out different lenses and explore their characteristics eg macro, telephoto.
Some of the time will be spent at ‘The Studio-Gallery’ (refreshments provided) and approx two hours photographing at a location (coast/countryside/local town etc). More details/directions provided when booked in.

Dates and times
Sunday afternoons on Oct 11th, Oct 18th, Nov 8th, Nov15th, Dec 6th.
2pm start in Deal or at set location, to finish by approx 5.30 pm.

What will you need?
An SLR camera (film or digital) with strap and case, the camera manual/handbook, good footwear and suitable outdoor wear (including waterproofs).
Recommended but not essential: A tripod, extra lenses, filters.

Cost
